The Brandon Allen Quartet showed up 21 November, 2017 – invited of course.
They were here to promote their latest album release “The Gene Ammons Project”. Gene Ammons also known as “The Boss”, was an American jazz tenor saxophonist remembered for his accessible music, steeped in soul and R&B.
Brandon Allen led the quartet on tenor sax
On piano and organ was Ross Stanley
Arnie Somogyi played bass
On Drums should have been Matt Home, unfortunately he was not available, even more unfortunate is that we did not make a note of his very good replacement.
The evening went down very well and with those of us in the audience not familiar with the work of Gene Ammons, this was a great way to discover, and check out at a later date, his work.
